Die amerikanische Künstlerin Margot Bergman (*1934, Chicago) hat diesseits des Atlantik bislang wenig Beachtung gefunden. Das Schweizer Museum Langmatt widmet ihr nun in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Folkwang Museum in Essen und Urbane Künste Ruhr die erste Einzelausstellung in Europa. Ihre zumeist kleinformatigen Portraits oszillieren zwischen surrealer Metamorphose und Art Brut. Auf Flohmärkten gefundene Gemälde, vor allem Landschaftsbilder, verwendet Margot Bergman als Grundlage, aus der sie durch Übermalen Gesichter herausarbeitet. In dem Zusammenspiel der Schichten, das an Sampling-Techniken erinnert, entstehen hintersinnige Porträts, die einen mal unheimlichen, mal melancholischen, mal humorvollen Eindruck hervorrufen. Seit Langem die erste Publikation zu dieser erstaunlichen Künstlerin, stellt der begleitende Katalog ihre Arbeiten vor und wirft grundsätzliche Fragen zur Porträtmalerei der Gegenwart auf.Ausstellung:

Good finish, poor hardware.
Set screws are poor quality and are sometimes powdercoated on the exposed threads. Leads to striped hex sockets and inability to tighten properly.
Durable finish as evidenced by no visible damage after throwing parts across the shop in frustration.
Ended up running self tapping screws thru parts to complete assembly.
