The abstract motifs covering Bela Silva's glazed stoneware look just like landscapes whipping past from a train window, which is fitting since her entire Carnet de Voyages collection is inspired by travel.

Working with Serax, the designer's eclectic range is awash with earthy tones, the imperfect aesthetic highlighted with charmingly off-kilter shapes. When you're not admiring it, keep the decorative Calor de Silva bowl pride of place on a shelf or sideboard.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER

Although born and raised in Lisbon, we may well attribute the predicate 'world citizen' to the Portuguese artist Bela Silva. She studied in Portugal, the UK and the US and she explored all possible arts disciplines. Her work has shared the spotlight in exhibitions with that of Andy Warhol, and her tile art is popular from Brazil to Spain, across China and back to Portugal. Nowadays she commutes between Brussels and Lisbon, mainly focussing on her first love, ceramics.
