Caire Companion 5 ECO Oxygen Concentrator Bundle — 5 LPMThe Caire Companion 5 ECO Oxygen Concentrator Bundle is a proven, energy efficient 5 LPM stationary home oxygen concentrator built around two technologies that set it apart in the category: CAIRE's autoFLOW, which adjusts valve cycle timing based on flow rate to reduce compressor load by 25% at 2 LPM and cut power consumption to just 250W at that setting, and ultraSILENT, which reduces noise to just 40 dBA at 2 LPM one of the quietest home

The Caire Companion 5 ECO Oxygen Concentrator Bundle is a proven, energy-efficient 5 LPM stationary home oxygen concentrator built around two technologies that set it apart in the category: CAIRE's autoFLOW™, which adjusts valve cycle timing based on flow rate to reduce compressor load by 25% at 2 LPM and cut power consumption to just 250W at that setting, and ultraSILENT™, which reduces noise to just 40 dBA at 2 LPM — one of the quietest home concentrators available. Both technologies work together to lower your energy bill, reduce wear on internal components, and extend the working life of the unit.

The ECO bundle includes the Companion 5 concentrator with OCSI oxygen monitoring — an alarm that activates if oxygen purity drops below 85%, providing an important safety alert for long-term users. The rotating flow control knob adjusts oxygen delivery from 0.5 to 5 LPM in 0.5 LPM increments. A large hour meter displays diagnostic alarm codes for easy troubleshooting. The humidifier bottle stand is integrated into the front panel for convenient setup. At 36 lbs with built-in casters and a top handle, the Companion 5 moves easily between rooms. Maintenance intervals are only required every two years. 3-year warranty.

autoFLOW. ultraSILENT. 40 dBA. Built for Long-Term Home Use.

autoFLOW Technology · 250W at 2 LPM · Lower Energy Bills CAIRE's autoFLOW technology adjusts valve cycle timing based on the current flow rate setting — reducing compressor load by 25% at 2 LPM, cutting power consumption to just 250W at that setting, and lowering the maximum draw to 300W at 3 LPM. This directly reduces daily electricity costs for patients running the concentrator continuously, while also lowering internal operating temperatures and reducing wear on compressor components. The result is a concentrator that costs less to run and lasts longer between service intervals.
ultraSILENT Technology · 40 dBA at 2 LPM · Bedroom-Friendly CAIRE's ultraSILENT technology combines a two-chamber intake muffler and a purge muffler to reduce both air intake noise and exhaust noise to just 40 dBA at 2 LPM — quieter than most home concentrators in the category. At this level the unit operates at roughly the volume of a quiet library or the background hum of a refrigerator, making it well suited for overnight use, bedroom placement, and noise-sensitive environments where a louder unit would be disruptive.
OCSI Oxygen Monitoring · LED Alarms · Large Hour Meter The ECO bundle includes OCSI (Oxygen Concentration Status Indicator) monitoring — an alarm system that alerts the user with both a visual LED indicator and an audible alarm if oxygen purity drops below 85%. The large front-panel hour meter displays diagnostic alarm codes for straightforward troubleshooting without calling for service. Additional LED indicators cover power status and operational alarms. The robust metal cannula barb provides a secure, durable connection to oxygen tubing. Intake filter is accessible through a side filter door and requires replacement only every two years.

Frequently Asked Questions

Both are CAIRE 5 LPM stationary home concentrators. The Companion 5 ECO is CAIRE's established model — well proven in home and clinical settings, with autoFLOW and ultraSILENT technologies, a 2-year maintenance interval, and OCSI oxygen monitoring included in the ECO bundle. The IntenOxy 5 is CAIRE's newest model — lighter at 34.2 lbs vs 36 lbs, with a slightly smaller footprint. Both carry a 3-year warranty. Call us to discuss which is right for your situation. 866-218-0902.
At 2 LPM — a common flow setting — the Companion 5 ECO consumes 250 watts. Running 24 hours at an average US electricity rate of approximately $0.16 per kWh, daily cost is roughly $0.96. At higher flow settings up to the maximum 350W, daily cost rises to approximately $1.34. Actual costs will vary based on your flow rate setting and local electricity rates. The autoFLOW technology meaningfully reduces consumption at lower settings compared to concentrators without this feature.
No — like all home stationary oxygen concentrators, the Companion 5 ECO requires a continuous AC power supply to operate. It is not battery-powered. If you experience power outages or need oxygen away from home, you should have a backup oxygen source — such as portable oxygen tanks or a portable oxygen concentrator. Call us if you need help selecting a backup or portable option. 866-218-0902.
The Companion 5 ECO is a stationary home concentrator designed for use with a standard AC wall outlet. It is not designed for travel, vehicle use, or use away from a power source. If you need oxygen therapy when away from home, a portable oxygen concentrator is the appropriate solution. Browse our portable oxygen concentrators →

A difficult book that must be read
This is a Pulitzer Prize winning novel by William Styron (the author of Sophie’s Choice). It is based on a slave revolt in Virginia in 1831, lead by Nate Turner. Turner’s capture and confession is the basis of this book. The novel is told in a 1st person narrative and is largely the work of Styron’s imagination. While it is brilliantly written Styron does include graphic scenes of highly erotic obsessions with various white women and one of the most vivid homosexual encounters in modern literature. Probably because of these scenes Styron was savaged by many of the leading black artists of the day but the book has endured the criticism and is, in many ways, an American Classic. Slavery is an indelible stain on the fabric of American culture. It will never be washed away. Turner is an aesthetic, a religious fanatic, a brilliant, tormented misanthropic, homicidal nihilist. His band of followers slaughters 52 men, women, and children. In retribution the white slaughter 200 blacks. Turner is captured, interrogated, and executed. Instead of inspiring a region wide uprising, he is brought down by his fellow blacks fighting alongside the plantation owners. It is a difficult book to read but it is a book that really should be read.

“The Confessions of Nat Turner” William Styron, 1966 Compelling ...
“The Confessions of Nat Turner” William Styron, 1966 Compelling is the word that comes to mind. This is a work of fiction based upon the actual event of Turners 1831 bloody insurrection. It is my option that a reasonably accurate portrayal of slave life and slave/slave owner relationships is presented. I will say that for my own part that, most of the time I was rooting for Nat. I don’t know that I have a clear understanding of Nat’s hatred except in the obvious; except for his education, why was his hatred so deep as to cause him to this violence? (In an afterword, Styron states that he believes Nat was insane but that in his novel he did not want an insane Nat) A thought that I had as I read the accounting was what if Turner had directed his energies toward educating other slaves? (Of course this would have been illegal but Nat’ owmer educated him.) A compelling read and I’m giving it 5 full stars.

Extraordinary Chronicle of an Avenging Warrior
I purchased this book, although I had read this several years ago. My interest to revisit the novel was aroused when I read The Good Lord Bird and viewed the series. There are strong parallels in the struggles and the motivations explored in these works. Styron is a talented writer who makes this history come alive and gather relevance. The brutal consequences of an impossible circumstance lives on through this century as the legacy of slavery is explored in splendid literary works such as this powerful novel. I highly recommend it.

Make Sure You Read the Vintage Edition with the Afterword
I initially purchased this book to read for two reasons: First, it was written by William Styron, who wrote the great "Sophie's Choice;" and second, it won a Pulitzer Prize. It was only after I was into the book that I learned that this vintage sixties' book was the subject of a major controversy over the depiction of the title character, Nat Turner. I learned that Styron openly acknowledged fictionalizing large portions of Turner's life, including his motivations for leading the slave revolt. I also learned that Styron's largely fictionalized portrait of Turner outraged many black leaders of the time. Rather than painting Turner (entirely) as a hero, called to action by the injustices of slavery, Styron created a darker picture of a man fixated on religion, a vision of himself as a prophet, and frustrated by lust and desire (particularly, for a young, blond haired white girl). As I read the book, I search my own feelings, and felt that if I were black, I would certainly have objected similarly. We all need our heroes, who become much larger as symbols than they could ever be as people. For the sake of those that come after, such icons are perhaps entitled to be treated with a greater level of sensitivity and care--even at the cost of literary restraint. It is here that the story gets fascinating. After I finished the novel, I read Styron's Afterword. Styron was truly stung by the criticism and in the Afterword, provided an elegant and persuasive defense of his writings. While I will not say that Styron entirely changed my position, he definitely made me see the other side of the argument. The dialogue between Styron and his critics not only allows the reader to consider one of the great social and political issues of our time, but permits the reader a unique insight into the thinking of a great writer--and suffices, in and of itself, as a reason for reading this novel. MAKE SURE YOUR VERSION OF THE NOVEL HAS THIS AFTERWORD. Putting the issue aside as to the real "Nat Turner," the novel itself is beautifully written. The characters are fully developed and believable. The description of the system of slavery and the relationship between whites and blacks feel very real, and very accurate. Styron shows us good and bad of each race, and how all of them are bound by the system of slavery and their actions directly the product of it.
