Installation Guide

  1. Disconnect the battery: Always disconnect the negative terminal first to prevent electrical shorts or sparks.
  2. Locate the old rectifier: Find the existing voltage rectifier on your outboard motor, typically mounted near the powerhead or electrical components.
  3. Label or photograph wiring: Before disconnecting, take a photo or label each wire to ensure correct reconnection.
  4. Disconnect electrical connections: Carefully remove all wire connectors from the old rectifier.
  5. Remove mounting hardware: Unbolt or unscrew the old rectifier from its mounting bracket.
  6. Position the new rectifier: Place the new unit in the same location, ensuring proper alignment with mounting holes.
  7. Secure with fasteners: Tighten mounting bolts or screws to manufacturer specifications; do not over-tighten.
  8. Reconnect wiring: Attach each wire connector to the corresponding terminal on the new rectifier, referencing your labels or photos.
  9. Check all connections: Verify that all wires are firmly seated and no terminals are exposed or touching metal.
  10. Reconnect the battery: Attach the positive terminal first, then the negative terminal.
  11. Test electrical system: Start the engine and verify that the charging system operates correctly; check voltage output with a multimeter if available.
  12. Inspect for issues: Look for any signs of overheating, loose connections, or unusual behavior during initial operation.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

How do I confirm this rectifier fits my Mercury or Mariner outboard?
Verify your engine's horsepower (6-200 HP) and year (1976-1998) against the compatibility table above. Cross-reference your existing part number with the list provided (8M0058226, 62351A1, 62351A2, 816770, 816770T, 18-5707, etc.). If your original part matches any listed number, this rectifier will fit.

What are the signs that my voltage rectifier is failing?
Common symptoms include battery not charging, battery draining quickly, dim or flickering lights, erratic gauge readings, or the engine dying after startup. If you measure abnormal voltage output (significantly above or below 13.5-14.5V at cruising RPM), the rectifier may be defective.

How often should I replace the voltage rectifier?
Rectifiers typically last several years under normal use, but replacement intervals vary based on operating conditions, electrical load, and exposure to moisture or corrosion. Inspect annually and replace immediately if you notice charging issues or physical damage.

What is the difference between this aftermarket rectifier and the OEM part?
This listing is an aftermarket replacement part (not an OEM component). We build to OEM specifications using comparable-grade materials. Production is done in an ISO9002-certified facility, and each batch is inspected for consistent performance.

How fast do you ship and how much does it cost?
We offer fast global shipping—typically 5–15 days worldwide—and standard shipping is free. Expedited options are available at checkout depending on your location.

What is your warranty and return policy?
This product includes a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If something goes wrong, contact our support team with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard return window (unused & in original condition); please see our policy page or reach out for instructions.

Beware of the Top Button!!😁
Style: M705
A smooth but weighted feel on a mouse pad. I have mice that move with a much lighter touch, but this is great for the computer I use with my main TV screen. Beware of the top damnable button, the one just before the scroll wheel. It turns off the clicky graduations you wheel as you roll the scroll wheel with your fingertip. When used it unleashes a whirling dervish of a gremlin, your screen will continue to scroll after you want it to stop. Sometimes it will start on its own! Incantations, voodoo, chick bones, curses and magic wands have no effect. Yelling seems to make it worse. There is no other cure other than to push the top button from Hades again. Clicks from the two main buttons are easily audible but not obnoxious. The side buttons for screen forward & back work very well also. This is my second one of these, the first stopped moving smoothly on a pad, no amount of polishing seemed to help so I retired it.

Important Info for Connecting Replacement Mouse
Style: M705
I purchased the MK705 mouse to replace the same model that had simply worn out after over 13 years of faithful service. The MK700/710 Logitech keyboard is still going strong, albeit with a few worn keys. I did however run into an issue when installing the new mouse. At first I left the old unifying receiver that came with the old mouse plugged into a usb port. I installed the batteries in the new mouse, turned it on, and found that it would not work. I figured it needed the new unifying receiver, so I turned off the keyboard and mouse and plugged the new receiver into the same USB port. The new mouse then worked but the keyboard would not. I couldn't figure out what was wrong, so I phoned Logitech support. The gentleman I spoke with walked me through the connection process, which was done on their website "logiwebconnect.com". Should you run into the same issue, the process is simple. You probably won't need any help from tech support, but if you do, they were easy to get in touch with.

Still the champ
Style: M705
Love it!!! Got this originally when it first came out. The people who talk about the scroll wheel are not very smart. It has a button to switch from hyper to regular scrolling. I do use a mouse pad. So it moves fine. Feels very comfortable in your hand. Obviously this is not for gaming. Great mouse for your home office computer.

Dependable, Reliable

As advertised. Logitech, best mouse for your hard-earned cheddar! It’s not that the (years) old Logitech mouse failed in any operational way, it just got that gummy, sticky surface texture that’s impossible to remove. While shopping for a replacement I noticed an off-brand mouse/keyboard combo and thought, “hey, 2 for 1”…mistake. All was well for about three weeks, long enough that when the gremlins arrived I didn’t immediately associate the new hardware. For the purposes of this discussion, gentle reader, know that I run legacy (what I affectionately refer to as, “Lazarus”) builds. Rigs that started life running Windows Vista/7, died, and that now, resurrected, run 10 and 11, and all that that implies. So, when a mouse started stuttering, of course I thought it was a gremlin in the machine, right? I spent more days than I am comfortable sharing with you pouring over processes and background apps, and registry trims…before Accam’s Razor suggested I eliminate the mouse as a variable. Changing the battery was ineffective, but when I swapped in the ooold Logitech…Yahtzee/Bingo/Booyah…smooth and precise…butter! All I needed was a new Logitech mouse. So, if you’re here you likely are having mouse issues of your own, or you just need one that works…this is it! 😉
