This book, first published in 1931, was actually written in its entirety by the Earl of Mountbatten (who is only officially credited with the preface). Marco is a pseudonym, a pun on the title. Though his actual polo-playing skills were reported to be unexceptional, Mountbatten understood the technique of the game brilliantly, and this has become a classic book on the sport.
