This is the only (all cast) metal boot pistol manufactured. Circa 1857. All open piece cast iron frame and long bag shaped handle made integral. The patent relief marking would be cast on the right side of the frame: "WM. S. BUTLER'S PATENT PATENTED FEB. 3, 1857" where the small plate is located. This particular example is un legible. A legible example is shown on the last photo.

Dimensions / Condition
Working order / Overall length 7.25 Inches / 41. Caliber / There is a crack in the hammer (non-structural) does not affect performance and what appears to be small repair to the front side cast plate. Very scarce / Civil War era / American made firearm!!!
