Dirty Blvd.: The Life And Music Of Lou ReedAuthor: Aidan Levy Lou Reed made it his mission to rub people the wrong way, whether it was with the noise rock he produced with the Velvet Underground in the late 1960s or his polarizing work with Metallica that would prove to be his swan song. On a personal level, too, he seemed to take pleasure in insulting everyone who crossed his path. How did this Jewish boy from Long Island, an adolescent doo wop singer, rise to the status of Godfather of Punk?

Lou Reed made it his mission to rub people the wrong way, whether it was with the noise rock he produced with the Velvet Underground in the late 1960s or his polarizing work with Metallica that would prove to be his swan song. On a personal level, too, he seemed to take pleasure in insulting everyone who crossed his path. How did this Jewish boy from Long Island, an adolescent doo-wop singer, rise to the status of Godfather of Punk? And how did he maintain that status for decades?
Dirty Blvd.—the first new biography of Reed since his death in 2013—digs deep to answer those questions. And along the way it shows us the tender side of his prickly personality.
Born in Brooklyn, Reed was the son of an accountant and a former beauty queen, but he took the road less traveled, trading literary promise for an entry-level job as a budget-label songwriter and founding the Velvet Underground under the aegis of Andy Warhol. The cult of personality surrounding his transformation from downtown agent provocateur to Phantom of Rock and finally to patron saint of the avant-garde was legendary, but there was more to his artistic evolution than his abrasive public persona. The lives of many American rock stars have had no second act, but Reed’s did.
Dirty Blvd. not only covers the highlights of Reed’s career but also explores lesser-known facets of his work, such as his first recordings with doo-wop group the Jades, his key literary influences and the impact of Judaism upon his work, and his engagement with the LGBT movement. Drawing from new interviews with many of his artistic collaborators, friends, and romantic partners, as well as from archival material, concert footage, and unreleased bootlegs of live performances, author Aidan Levy paints an intimate portrait of the notoriously uncompromising rock poet who wrote “Heroin,” “Sweet Jane,” “Walk on the Wild Side,” and “Street Hassle”—songs that transcended their genre and established Lou Reed as one of the most influential and enigmatic American artists of the past half-century.

Worthless Dog Toy
Color: Blue
Buyer beware! This item is worthless - if I could rate it -5*, I would. It was delivered this morning and was destroyed literally within 10 minutes. The squeaker was punctured and two of the crinkle legs were stripped by my Shichon.

Fun for a few minutes but beware!
Color: Blue&Purple&Orange, Color: Blue&Purple&Orange
I have 3 dogs so looking for multipacks of the same style toy is great so there is less squabbling between who gets what toy.
I have a border collie puppy, a 4 yr old Irish wolfhound cross and a 17 yr old border collie. These toys were loved by each one of my dogs.
The toys are floppy and easy to squeak in the octopus head. So much so that my elderly boy could happily play and make it squeak. He even collected the toys up and took them to his bed!
My puppy ran off bounding through the house squeaking the octopus' head with the tentacle-legs flying everywhere as she ran around, so the entertainment value is pretty high!
My Irish wolfhound loved the crinkling on the tentacles of the octopus and went straight for tearing into the orange toy pulling out the plastic, then pulling out the squeaker. The toy did ok with a game of tuggy (tug-o-war) with him and this toy would have been a great reward during a training session.
The fabric is not very tough so this is not a toy for aggressive chewers. Legs were easily chewed off and unfortunately were ingested by one of my dogs which caused them to vomit repeatedly throughout the night. Same with the squeaker, they are thin, soft plastic. So if your dog is a voracious chewer, give these a miss.
What I liked about these toys:
1. They were reasonably priced for 3 toys
2. These are not small toys! They are great for medium and large dogs.
3. Very fun for the dogs to play with.
4. No stuffing to clean up
What I didn't like:
1. Toys are not durable for tough tuggers.
2. The toys are not reinforced for chewing.
3. Squeaker not strong enough.
The toys just didn't last. There was maybe 15 minutes of play time at most before the chewing and destruction of the toys really got started.
I might buy these again if I can give my puppy better supervision for her chewing these and trying to stop her from ingesting the pieces she is chewing off put I probably won't buy them again. There's too much plastic that can be eaten with the crinkly plastic in the legs.

My puppy's favorite toy
Color: Blue
I have an 9 month old lab. He LOVES these!! By far one of his favorite toys! Since he is a puppy they do not last crazy long. Usually a few weeks, but well worth it. They keep him occupied.. and gives me a 20+ min of fee time!!

Best toy ever
Color: Blue&Purple, Color: Blue&Purple
I have been through many many toys with my 4yo GWP. And she is not gentle with her toys. Normally a plush toy will last about a week before all stuffing is brutally removed and the squeaker is so worn out it resembles a limp noodle. Somehow, this toy has survived the last 3 months- squeaker still squeaking, no holes in the fabric, better yet there’s not stuffing to litter all over my floor for the vacuum to get stuck on! She loves this thing, she flings it around, tugs on it, catches it midair, loses it and finds it. Honestly 10/10. I wish I could buy stock in this toy.
