"Inspired by the variety of textures and delicateness found amongst plants that grow in gaps between pavement and walls and other ‘uncultivated’ areas, my etching ‘Grasses' is celebrating wild flowers and grasses that grow wherever they are left alone to do so. We need more wild flower, meadows and gardens for wild flowers to take over! Like in the etching "Summer Garden 1" I used the soft ground technique to create this etching. The plate is inked up anew for every print taken. Some small colour variations occur within this small edition. Each etching is an original, printed by me on acid free fine art printing paper in my studio in Brighton/ UK. The image size is 35cm x 35cm with a paper margin of 8cm all around."

Image size: 35 x 34.5 cm.
Paper size (incl. mount): 52.8 x 52.8 cm.
Edition of 10, numbered, titled and signed.

Originally from Rüsselsheim, Germany, Heike Roesel studied Fine Art Printmaking BA (hons) at University of Brighton. She started her printmaking practice doing lithography, but eventually switched to etching which has been her medium of choice since. The process and the materials inspire the way Heike develops her imagery. She starts with a loose idea for an image, clarifying it through drawing. But the real development starts with working on the plate, pushing the initial idea through to a conclusion. The resulting imagery is never a representation of the circumstance or object that inspired it, but an improvisation of her initial idea, becoming ‘a world in it’s own right’. With her imagery she aims to inspire an observer’s own imagination to find their own individual ‘picture’. In 2009 Heike set up Studio B5 with Jo Riddell, Richard Denne, Margaret Betts and Jane Sampson, all fine art printmakers, printing in different mediums. There she developed her own way of using the alternative technique of Acrylic Resist Etching, which is now in use by the studio.

Fun Way to Teach Manners
Format: Hardcover
This book was one I read to my daughters when they were young and I am now reading it to my grandsons. I plan to read it to my fourth grade class, as well.

... over with my 3yo and 5yo boys but they loved it!
Format: Hardcover
I wasn't sure how this would go over with my 3yo and 5yo boys but they loved it!! They always enjoy pulling it out and now I can refer back to the characters to remind them of their manners in a more positive way. The only thing is I kinda wish they had used a different animal than pig, since for some reason I don't like saying "don't be like the pigs" (since I don't really want them calling eachother or other kids pigs). But so far it has been fine :) It's also very nice they included "Be kind to animals, they have feelings too." We say that all the time around here since we have kitties. Also the part about table manners is great since we had already been teaching the kids to ask before being excused from the table.

Manners Can Be Fun
Format: Hardcover
What a cute book! I bought it for my 2 and 3 year old boys. We are attempting to teach them simple, common manners in a fun way and they love learning through books. Manners Can Be Fun presents manners in a simple, easy to understand, engaging way. The boys enjoy reading this book and it's a great way to have positive conversations about specific situations they experience daily like sharing toys, picking up after themselves, whining, meal time. It's a fun book!

Wonderful, simple book for children of all ages
Format: Hardcover
I am 65 years old and this was one of my first books. The revisions along the way have not changed the drawings that much. It is simple, but well illustrated, and gives a basic idea of good manners. I recommend it for every child - it makes them think about behavior. The way the author demonstrates "me first" and "whinney" have stuck with me all these years.

LOVE
Format: Hardcover
I must say, I was very touched by this book, the heart behind it specifically. What beautiful illustrations. Our son with autism absolutely LOVES his ABCS and LOVES planes trains and automobiles. Little boys are a gift from God and this book highlights that. From one parent to another, thank you, we all loved it and loved watching his little eyes turn bright and light up. Big hugs.
