This elegant set of Johannes Andersen dining chairs was sourced from a design-led home in Kent, owned by a Danish couple who had moved to the UK in the early 1970s. The chairs were purchased new from a specialist importer in Copenhagen and brought across as part of their relocation, cherished ever since as part of their carefully curated dining space.
Set around a rosewood table with statement pendant lighting above, the chairs were used daily but kept in immaculate condition — always considered part of the “good” furniture, reserved for gatherings that mattered. We were struck by the sculpted backrests, each one bearing Andersen’s unmistakable signature of form-meets-function elegance.
The rich tone of the rosewood had mellowed beautifully over time, developing the kind of patina you simply can’t replicate. We preserved the original faux leather upholstery, which remains in excellent condition, and performed only a light oil and polish to let the grain shine through.
