The Zarape Reversible Hoodie features organic and sustainable materials made with dignity. The one-of-a-kind, hand-made textiles are sourced from Hueyapan, Mexico where the art of natural, chemical-free dyeing is a long-standing tradition. The locally-sourced materials are used to create beautifully, deliberately embroidered rebozos that take up to one year to craft. They are inspired by local wildlife, spiritual beliefs, and other elements of ancient history, in this way weaving centuries of wisdom and tradition into these artisanal textiles. The dyes used to color the fabric are the result of thousands of years of tradition and experience in dying fabrics with plants, fruits, and other natural elements. Blues, greens, and blacks all use the indigo plant. Reds, pinks and purples utilize cochineal.

MYM Organics and Nomadic Outpost have come together to modernize this traditional work of art in the form of a hooded sweater that features carbon de coco-dyed 100% organic french terry lining, cochineal-dyed hand-spun wool thread, two pockets, and a water-based screen-printed image of the highly coveted Quetzal flying above the volcano, Popocatépetl, located in the Hueyapan region of Mexico.

The resplendent Quetzal is an important symbol in both Aztec and Mayan culture. Its name, quetzal, means "precious" or "sacred" in several Mesoamerican languages, so it's no surprise this bird itself is considered divine. The Quetzal is associated with the snake god Quetzalcoatl and is seen as a symbol for goodness and light.

Textile: 100% hand-spun wool thread that is then hand-embroidered on 100% organic cotton canvas

Color: carmine/carbon de coco

Size: small, medium, large

Entertaining and helpful lessons
Format: Hardcover
My family loves this book. Used to read it to my daughter as a young girl and now she’s a teen. We still talk about the lessons learned in this book! The characters and illustrations crack me up: Smash, rip and ruin taught us a lot! And the ones without hands and noses! I couldn’t believe how long ago this book was written when we got it- all lessons still applicable today.

Fun Way to Teach Manners
Format: Hardcover
This book was one I read to my daughters when they were young and I am now reading it to my grandsons. I plan to read it to my fourth grade class, as well.

... over with my 3yo and 5yo boys but they loved it!
Format: Hardcover
I wasn't sure how this would go over with my 3yo and 5yo boys but they loved it!! They always enjoy pulling it out and now I can refer back to the characters to remind them of their manners in a more positive way. The only thing is I kinda wish they had used a different animal than pig, since for some reason I don't like saying "don't be like the pigs" (since I don't really want them calling eachother or other kids pigs). But so far it has been fine :) It's also very nice they included "Be kind to animals, they have feelings too." We say that all the time around here since we have kitties. Also the part about table manners is great since we had already been teaching the kids to ask before being excused from the table.

Manners Can Be Fun
Format: Hardcover
What a cute book! I bought it for my 2 and 3 year old boys. We are attempting to teach them simple, common manners in a fun way and they love learning through books. Manners Can Be Fun presents manners in a simple, easy to understand, engaging way. The boys enjoy reading this book and it's a great way to have positive conversations about specific situations they experience daily like sharing toys, picking up after themselves, whining, meal time. It's a fun book!

Wonderful, simple book for children of all ages
Format: Hardcover
I am 65 years old and this was one of my first books. The revisions along the way have not changed the drawings that much. It is simple, but well illustrated, and gives a basic idea of good manners. I recommend it for every child - it makes them think about behavior. The way the author demonstrates "me first" and "whinney" have stuck with me all these years.
