SKU Code: A-17-OM

This recreation of the A-17 watch is based on the original design used by U.S. pilots during the Korean War (1950-1953). The original A-17 was an improved and updated version of the A-11 used by the USAAF during World War II. This modern recreation features an upgraded automatic mechanical movement with the option to hand-wind, retaining the classic 1950s appearance with discreet updates for everyday use.

Family of Watches

In addition to the A-17, we also produce the A-11, based on the WWII USAAF pilots' watch, and the GG-W-113, based on the Vietnam War issue watch.

Historical Recreation

The journey of our recreations began in January 2009, when a US veterans association approached us to create a watch identical in appearance to the original models made by Hamilton, Bulova, and Benrus during the Vietnam War. We examined samples and original specifications, resulting in the GG-W-113 with a high-grade fully jeweled hand-wound movement. Following the success of the GG-W-113, we were asked to recreate earlier models, including the A-11 from WWII and the 1950s pattern A-17. The A-17 bridges the gap between the A-11 and the GG-W-113, sharing characteristics of both.

Key Features

This A-17 model is crafted with a heavy stainless steel satin finish case made from Military Grade 316L stainless steel. It features a sweep second hand, hacking function, black dial, and luminous markings for excellent visibility in low light conditions, using Luminous Super Luminova paint.

It doesn’t stay in
The pipe keeps coming out. Not worth the money. Not sturdy to hold a top table.

Good finish, poor hardware.
Set screws are poor quality and are sometimes powdercoated on the exposed threads. Leads to striped hex sockets and inability to tighten properly. Durable finish as evidenced by no visible damage after throwing parts across the shop in frustration. Ended up running self tapping screws thru parts to complete assembly.

Kinda flimsy…
Thought the assembly was metal, it’s some kind of PVC.

A Wonderful Update To A Great Old Reference Book!
Format: Hardcover
It's the Merck Manual! If you know medicine but are aware you don't know EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING! (Few if any do!) This is a wonderful reference. If you have no medical knowledge and think this will make you know what doctors know. Don't waste your money. You have to have a basic understanding for this to be helpful. This is a wonderful update to an old favorite.
