Cordoba IBERIA Requinto 580 1/2-Size Nylon-String Classical Guitar - High Gloss

Styled in a high-gloss finish, the Iberia Series Requinto 580 from Cordoba is a 1/2-size, nylon-string classical guitar with a solid, Canadian Cedar top, and mahogany back and sides. Its body is constructed utilizing traditional Spanish 5-fan Torres-style bracing, and features aesthetic touches such as Indian rosewood binding, and an inlaid wood mosaic rosette around the soundhole.

The neck, measuring 22.8” in scale, is constructed out of mahogany and sports a rosewood fingerboard, 19 frets, and mother-of-pearl side dot inlays at the fifth, seventh, and ninth frets for easier visual orientation. At the headstock, Cordoba gold tuning machines with pearl buttons secure the strings, providing a gear ratio of 14:1 and a string roller spacing of 35mm. An Indian rosewood bridge anchors the strings to the body.

With features such as these packed into a 1/2-sized body, this instrument is a suitable choice for smaller or younger guitar players seeking a classical guitar with quality components. In addition to being played in standard E tuning, the Requinto is often tuned higher to add a distinct voice when used in a guitar-based band. The Requinto 580 can be tuned up as high as a minor third, up to standard G tuning, which will raise the pitch and increase string tension. Any tunings higher are not recommended, as the added stress from higher string tension will compromise the instrument.
