For 2023, Gibson introduces a range of plain top finishes for the Standard '50s, and among them is a favorite among Gibson players and enthusiasts - Pelham Blue! This finish exudes sophistication, derived from the Cadillac color code formula from the 1960s. This exciting finish is complemented by aged gold "top hat" style knobs, cream plastics, and nickel pickup covers.
An essential element of the Les Paul's appeal is its immediate sense of sturdiness and craftsmanship when held. The Les Paul Standard '50s exemplifies this, starting with a non-weight relieved Mahogany body, crowned by a single-ply bound plain Maple top. Its Mahogany neck features the iconic '50s style carve, while the guitar’s Indian Rosewood fingerboard boasts classic Acrylic Trapezoid inlays, and 22 standard frets.
As for electronics, the Les Paul Standard ‘50s come equipped with another fan favorite in Gibson Burstbucker Pickups. At the neck position is a Burstbucker 1 model, and a Burstbucker 2 takes the bridge position. These humbucking pickups house Alnico 2 magnets that infuse a vintage-inspired warmth into the guitar’s tone. Standard 50s Les Paul models are also hand-wired with Orange Drop capacitors, enhancing the character of the pickups' volume and tone circuits.
