The GG-W-113 infantry watch originated in October 1962 when the U.S. government established specifications for military timepieces under MIL-W-3818B, which replaced the earlier MIL-W-3818A specification from March 1956. These watches were primarily manufactured by Hamilton, Bulova, and Benrus during the Vietnam War, and they remain iconic in military watch history.

In January 2009, MWC collaborated with a U.S. veterans association to recreate this legendary model. Using two original watches and their detailed specifications as references, MWC developed a modern homage. This recreation features a 24-jewel automatic movement with a hacking function, maintaining the spirit of the original hand-wound movements while incorporating a rotor for automatic self-winding. It also retains the ability for manual winding, offering versatility.

In 2023, MWC further enhanced the GG-W-113 by introducing a box sapphire crystal. This upgrade provides superior shatter and scratch resistance while preserving the authentic look of the plexiglass crystals used in the 1960s and 1970s. The result is a watch that is visually indistinguishable from its vintage counterparts but benefits from modern technological advancements.

The watch features a retro "Bonklip" ladder-style bracelet, expertly crafted from high-quality stainless steel. Widely used between the 1930s and 1960s, these bracelets are celebrated for their premium vintage aesthetic. For more on their history and features, see the detailed summary below. Exceptionally comfortable and highly adjustable, the Bonklip bracelet pairs perfectly with retro-style watches like this one, blending functionality with timeless design. The final 3 images show 2 UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) documents and a original Jaeger LeCoultre military issue watch on a Bonklip bracelet.

The original Benrus model provided in 2009, dated 1965, exemplifies the historical accuracy of this recreation. As shown in the final image, MWC's homage remains true to the design and proportions of the era while improving functionality and durability.

This modern GG-W-113 is a perfect option for collectors and enthusiasts seeking a reliable, daily-wear watch that captures the aesthetics and legacy of Vietnam-era timepieces.

Sapphire Crystal Benefits

Why Sapphire Crystal?
Sapphire crystal is the gold standard for watch crystals, offering unmatched strength, scratch resistance, and shatter resistance. These qualities make it ideal for military personnel, police officers, and active outdoor enthusiasts, who collectively represent over 70% of MWC’s customer base.

Advantages:

  • Durability: Over 90% of cracked watch crystals are made from mineral glass, even when hardened. Sapphire crystals are significantly more resilient under adverse conditions.
  • Heat Treatment: Sapphire crystals undergo a manufacturing process that removes internal stresses, resulting in exceptional strength.
  • Anti-Reflective Coating: Two layers of coating enhance legibility in various lighting conditions.
  • Modern Applications: Sapphire crystal is now used in devices such as the latest iPhones, showcasing its premium quality.

Though sapphire crystal comes at a higher cost, its durability and performance make it a worthwhile investment for higher-end watches like the GG-W-113.

This watch represents a seamless blend of heritage and modernity, making it an exceptional choice for collectors, military history enthusiasts, and those seeking a rugged yet stylish timepiece for everyday wear.

Bonklip Bracelet Overview

The Bonklip bracelet is a distinctive watch strap known for its flexibility, durability, and unique construction. Originating in the 1930s and popularized during and after World War II, it complements military-style and vintage watches from the 1930s to the 1960s. Its practicality and timeless design make it a favorite among watch enthusiasts.

Key Features

  • Material: Typically stainless steel, lightweight yet robust, with minor variations in design.
  • Construction: Interlocking metal links with a ladder-like appearance ensure excellent flexibility and comfort.
  • Adjustability: The clasp allows for micro-adjustments to fit various wrist sizes without tools.
  • Clasp Design: A secure and easy-to-use mechanism, ideal for quick adjustments, especially in military settings.
  • Style: Retro, minimalist, and perfectly suited for vintage or military-pattern watches.

Historical Context

Patented in the 1930s by British inventor F. B. Bonklip, this bracelet gained prominence during World War II for its practicality and resilience. It was often issued with military watches and used in both field and aviation roles.

Modern Appeal

Today, the Bonklip bracelet is valued for its vintage aesthetic and functionality. Unlike leather, nylon, or canvas straps that take time to dry after water exposure, the stainless steel Bonklip offers durability and practicality, making it ideal for active or outdoor use. It pairs beautifully with classic military-style or reissued watches.

A great toy for any dog!
Style: Small Ball, Size: 1 Count, Style: Small Ball, Size: 1 Count
The Hartz Duraplay ball is great! My 4 1/2 yr. old Pug has never liked playing with them before. He has gone crazy for this ball. He has no trouble grabbing it with is mouth. He ever gets it to squeak with his feet. I think it’s a great dog toy. Excellent!

Great Value and very durable
Style: Small Ball, Size: 1 Count
Very durable! We have purchased this for our new lab puppy. Highly recommend them. We have bought them before for our retrievers and it has been one of the longest lasting toys they own. Which says a lot because toys get torn up fast in our house. Definitely a good value and the material is easy on their teeth. Also it keeps ours busy for a while.

Great product! Durable, chewable, awesomeness!
Color: Grilled color, Color: Grilled color
Very well made and durable. My dog hasn't left them alone since i opened them. Hes been at it for about 45 minutes straight now! Lol. He's an avid chewer. He will chew thru and fabric or cloth toys in less then a day. But these are what he really likes because they take time to chew apart. The shapes, are great, because one he props up with his paws and chews and it seems like it's easy to grip for him. Thru are hard so if you have hard floors it can get a bit noisy when he drops them. Over all this is a great product. Safe, chewable, long lasting, fun shape looks real to him (i think lol), Me and my dog Lucky are both happy with his new toys!

Amazingly great product!
Color: Grilled color
I’m not just saying this, ok, this is not hyperbole: this is THE best nylon bone for chewing that I have ever purchased. And you get TWO of them for relatively less expensive than most chew toys give you one! I have 2 golden retrievers, and if you know goldens, you know that they are some of the most relentless and powerful chewers around. So I can’t give them almost any toy other than rubber stuff or it will be destroyed in a period of time that doesn’t make it worth it. One of them even figured out how to destroy a supposedly indestructible toy made out of kevlar! She was able to get into it through the seam, which is not kevlar ha ha. Anyway, I digress; I never even considered nylon chews because they suck! Usually. Usually my dogs in the past have lost interest with them in less than a day. I took a chance on these mainly because of the novel shapes, the fact that they give you two, and the low price. Both my goldens LOVE these! Not just for one day, but going on weeks now! I don’t know if it’s the flavor or what, but I will see them gnawing on one of them at some point every day. And they CAN’T destroy them (I knew nylon was good for that, but it was the “who cares” attitude of my previous dogs toward nylon that kept me away). Both the “ribs” and “steak” (quite clever) are a bit worn on the edges now, but they look like they will be around for years. You can’t go wrong with this product (unless for some reason your dog does not like the flavor, but the flavor seems to be what draws my dogs to them). I highly recommend this (these) as the most cost-effective chew toy I’ve ever purchased.
