Baggs HiFi Duet is a hybrid pickup system that pairs detailed bridge plate sensing with an internally mounted studio-grade microphone, all routed through a soundhole-mounted preamp designed for high-fidelity control and transparency. At its core are two ultra-lightweight bridge plate pickups installed via peel-and-stick adhesive, minimizing invasiveness while preserving your acoustic guitar’s natural resonance. These sensors are engineered to translate the nuance of the top plate, delivering clarity, dynamics, and balance without flattening the instrument’s voice.
Augmenting the dual-sensor array is the Silo Mic, a meticulously tuned microphone utilizing a proprietary capsule and suspension system. Borrowing from the TRU•MIC lineage, it adds spatial depth and ambient character with surprisingly effective feedback rejection. The signal from both the pickups and the mic is routed through an all-discrete onboard preamp featuring a multi-pole crossover system. This architecture allows you to blend between a punchy, direct signal from the pickups and a more open, studio-like sound from the mic. Controls for mix, volume, mic level, and battery check are mounted just inside the soundhole for convenient access, while the system runs on a single 9V battery with over 180 hours of runtime. The result is a system that brings detailed, mic’d-up realism to a stage-friendly format.
