The young brilliant musicians and singers who came together to form Planxty had already made a name for themselves before - Andy Irvine, Liam O'Flynn, Donal Lunny, and Christy Moore. Together they weaved beautiful new arrangement concepts that were luxurious and dramatic.

And they set the stage for all the great new Irish bands that soon followed in their footsteps, like The Bothy Band, DeDanan, and Solas, and so many others.
