Gimli accomplished many feats throughout his life, playing an instrumental role in the battle of Helms Deep, the battle at Pelennor Fields and the battle at the Black Gate. As a gift he was granted three strands of hair from the Lady Galadriel, earning himself the name 'Lockbearer'. He would also earn a lifelong, albeit unlikely, friendship with the Elf Legolas.
