Later reprint (first, 1961) of this 'biography' one of Britain's most iconic ocean liners, signed and inscribed on title-page by the last Captain of the ship, John Treasure Jones (1905-1993), who had taken command in 1965 after a long and distinguished seafaring career in both the Merchant and Royal Navy. In 1967 the emerging boom in Transatlantic flights forced Cunard to retire the ship, now permanently moored in Long Beach, California. On the front fly-leaf is an inscription, dated 'Queen Mary - New York - Southampton June 15 - June 20', with eleven signatures underneath.
