More than 120 years old, this stunning blue iris jug from Royal Doulton is in almost pristine condition.
Apart from a tiny mark on the outer bottom rim of the jug (see the right-hand photo in image 5) — which could be a manufacturing mark — there are no chips, cracks, repairs, or signs of crazing.
It is remarkable to find a piece of this age in such brilliant condition.
The front and back face of the jug is decorated with two different blue flower motifs (possibly irises or daffodils), while a blue butterfly is positioned under the spout. There is rich gilding to the top and bottom rims as well as on the handle, while sponged gold has been applied across the body.
This will make a beautiful addition to your collectibles cabinet or an outstanding display piece.
